So Layla has been through a lot. Mid-April (right around my bday) Dave came home to find her on the bed drenched in sweat and took her to the vet. Turns out she had a fever of 107, well above the normal 101 for cats. The vet put ice packs on her to cool her down and starting testing for what this could be, she was at the vet all day and then transferred to emergency care for two more nights until her fever finally broke. Poor thing.. she was so upset at the vet and emergency care and as soon as we brought her home she was doing much better with three different kinds of medication. Turns out she had a virus of some sort that the medication knocked it out, which I am so grateful. Now she's back to her spunky cute self and we couldn't be happier!

Things I Learned from My Birthday Mani/Pedi
1) You are never too old for balloons on your birthday
2) A helium machine at any place of business is a great idea
3) Paraffin wax is HOT and semi-dangerous
3) Apparently the name Dim Sum Yum for nail-polish is totally appropriate
4) Rolling massage function is highly superior to punching - seriously who likes that?
4) Getting a mani/pedi with someone is much better than without - thanks Ashley!:)

Office Quote of the Day
So I came to work today to find my co-worker had placed one of the funniest quotes from The Office on my desk. She has a daily calendar of quotes and often likes to share them.
Kelly: [looking very sick] I'm on the third day of my cleanse diet. All I have to do is drink maple syrup, lemon juice, cayenne pepper and water for all three meals. Um, I just bought some bikinis online too so.. I'm gonna look amaaaazing.

Happy Birthday to Me Indeed!
I just have to write that I have the best friends and family. Yesterday we went to Wildfire for my birthday dinner with 14 of my closest friends and family. We closed the place down and had such a good time. Afterwards we went to GameWorks for some serious SkiBall play. What a blast, we didn't get home until 1:30am!!! Thanks to all who came out, love you guys!

Thursday Night Woes
Last night I had an awful night that started with the CTA. So I leave work and walk to the train and as I'm going up the stairs I hear it arriving so I bolt on the train. I was going to the library so I was planning on getting off at Paulina - one stop after where I normally get off. So I'm online on my phone not paying attention - thinking I'm on the Brown Line. We get to Belmont (where I normally get off) and the doors close and the conductor says "Purple Line, Express to Howard" HOWARD! That's the END OF THE LINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! While he was saying all this the doors were closing and I was trapped and LIVID!Howard is like 12 stops away form Belmont and I was on the train with creepy looking people going through creepy uptown for about 20 minutes there. Once I get up there I have to turn right around and take the damn Purple Line back to Belmont. UGHHHHH I felt SO stupid and it took me over an hour to get to the library.
So then I get off at Belmont and wait for the bus...which takes forever. The library was closing in one hour and I thought the bus was never coming so I started to walk. Just as I crossed the street, I turn around and see the bus. Luckily I was able to run back and catch it, but of course had a red light to wait for.
So then I get to the library and I haven't been in over 3 years and no longer have my card. I have no idea where its at. So I get in line and wait for like 10 minutes while the idiots behind the desk take
forever. So I get up to the desk and its this little old woman and I'm like "Hi I need to renew my library card" She looks at me with hate and shrugs and puts her hands up like "what do you want me to
do." At this point I'm about ready to lose it and I say again - "I need to renew my card -can you please look me up". She's like I need your old card - and I say "I don't have my old card" - then she says "well i cant help you." So next to her is a guy who actually seems to know what he is doing and I say - "I'm talking to him - you aren't helping me." So right when I start to move over to his open area, a freakin' kid cuts in front of my and gets to him first. fabulous. This kid was trying to check out like 1,500 books and he owed money and the whole deal. So after 10 minutes waiting for the guy to help me...I finally get to renew my card.
So of course all the books I want are not there and I have to place on hold - which I do. Then I look around and randomly pick out some books to try. I leave and wait for the bus again and again its NOT COMING. I HATE THE CTA is all I kept thinking at this point. I only need to go a few blocks, but I don't want to walk it because its dark and scary and I'm carrying all this crap, so I flag a cab and eat the $5.

What a crappy night, I really need a drink or something to punch...the lady at the library would be great.....

Hiya, Who Wants Some Lemonade?
So I decided to try to do this blog thing...mainly for my own amusement. I did realize that if I start doing this though, I will have to be better at charging my computer as I currently only have 35 minutes left of power time...
So Pink Lemonade is my blog name because:
a) its one of my favorite summertime drinks
b) can easily turn into a summertime or anytime cocktail
c) reminds me that when life gives you lemons, you can not only make lemonade, but PINK lemonade
So I hope you find this blog worthwhile and maybe one day I will have a few followers!
